- Land Reform Coalition Open Letter
We, alongside a broad coalition of organisations who have been working collectively on strengthening the Land Reform (Scotland) Bill, have written an open letter to the Cabinet Secretary for Rural Affairs, Land Reform and Islands.
In this letter we set out some of our concerns with the direction of land reform in Scotland and some of the missed opportunities of the Bill. We also recognise areas which have been strengthened by the Scottish Government at Stage 2 and the importance of securing these gains at Stage 3 in order to ensure the Bill is as impactful and meaningful as possible.
Without further measures, we will miss a huge opportunity to build a system that serves the public interest, supports communities and unlocks the potential for the land of Scotland to address pressing challenges – from the housing crisis and economic development to climate and social justice.
