Our Community
Community Land Scotland is powered by people — the individuals, communities and organisations working together to grow community ownership across Scotland. From small community trusts managing local halls to large-scale estates stewarding thousands of hectares, our network reflects the strength and diversity of this movement.
Together, our members, staff and Board are building a fairer, greener and more resilient Scotland — where communities have the power to shape their own futures.
Our Members
Community Land Scotland is a member-led organisation. Our members are community landowners from across Scotland, and they shape everything we do.
At the most fundamental level, our Board is drawn from our membership — ensuring that our governance reflects the realities of community ownership. Beyond that, we regularly consult and draw upon our members’ expertise and experience to guide our priorities, inform our policy work, and share best practice across the sector.
Our members range from small trusts managing local assets to large estates stewarding extensive landholdings. Together, they demonstrate the creativity, commitment and collective strength that drive Scotland’s community land movement.
Our Board
Community Land Scotland is governed by a voluntary Board of Directors that provides strategic direction and ensures our priorities reflect the needs and ambitions of community landowners across Scotland.
The majority of our Directors are elected from our member organisations, keeping the organisation firmly member-led. We also have a small number of co-opted Directors who bring additional expertise and perspective to support our governance and the wider development of the community land sector.
Our Board brings deep experience from across the movement — from early estate buyouts to new models of urban ownership — ensuring that our decisions are grounded in real-world knowledge and shared values.
Our Staff
Our staff team leads the day-to-day work of Community Land Scotland — supporting members, developing policy, building partnerships and sharing the story of community ownership.
We bring experience in community development, land reform, communications and policy, and are united by a belief in the power of people and place.
