- Case Study: Duddingston Village Conservation Society
Duddingston Village Conservation Society (DVCS), which was set up in 1959, owns a community garden site in Edinburgh. In 2000, the National Trust for Scotland acquired an area of land in the village on behalf of the village, as a result of a bequest of a local resident. In February 2014, after a long period of negotiations with the NTS, which hoped to sell part of the land for development, the group purchased the land from the National Trust for £50,000.
