
The Community Ownership Hub: Glasgow and Clyde Valley started as a research project in 2020. Its goal was to help and study the challenges urban communities face when trying to buy land and buildings.
We developed The Hub based on our research from 2018 and 2019. We had looked at Community Right to Buy and the Scottish Land Fund after they were made available in urban areas. Our findings showed that community ownership can greatly help towns and cities. However, communities face many challenges, such as not knowing their land rights and having trouble accessing data.
The project was funded by the Scottish Government, the William Grant Foundation, and the Tudor Trust. The pilot has now finished, however, we have funding from the Tudor Trust to continue supporting communities until March 2025.
