- Findings From the Community Ownership Hub
The Community Ownership Hub: Glasgow and Clyde Valley was set up as an action research project by Community Land Scotland in 2020, with the aim of both tackling and investigating the challenges faced by urban communities looking to buy land and buildings.
The establishment of the Hub built on research into urban community ownership carried out by Community Land Scotland in 2018 and 2019, following the extension of Community Right to Buy and the Scottish Land Fund to urban communities in 2016. This early research showed that community ownership had the potential to be transformative in towns and cities but that communities faced considerable challenges, from low awareness of land rights to issues around availability of data.
The project was funded by the Scottish Government, William Grant Foundation and Tudor Trust. Although the pilot has now finished, Community Land Scotland has continuation funding from the Tudor Trust, that’s allowing us to continue supporting communities until March 2025.
The documents below highlight our findings from the project as well as other key information published during the project.
