What they said:
We hosted a Halloween-themed Afternoon Tea at Newmains Community Trust as part of the Community Land Festival 2025 to bring families together in a fun and affordable way. The event featured spooky decorations, themed treats, and a Halloween themed quiz. A few of the attendees even arrived in costume which was brilliant to see the efforts they had gone to. The feedback was overwhelmingly positive with many asking for us to do it again next year. We chose to take part in the Festival to celebrate community connection, we know that our community love to come together for events like this as we have organised them for Easter, Christmas events.
Outcomes and Community Feedback:
We were able to offer afternoon tea for only £5 per person so the main outcome was that we could offer a low cost alternative for our community. Fully positive feedback from all the attendees, who loved the decorations and also the home baked and decorated treats we made as part of the afternoon tea. We also had feedback requesting that we do another Halloween event next year.
Challenges:
All the sandwiches and cakes were made in our community café whilst running a full service, so the biggest challenge was ensuring that this was catered for without having an adverse effect on the café activities.
