Be a part of Community Land Week in 2023
16 June 2023
Community Land Week returns this year in an expanded celebration that will run from the 13th to the 29th of October for the fifth Scotland-wide festival of community landowners. Any geographic community organisation that owns land or another asset, from an estate to a woodland to a community centre, can apply to run an event as part of the week.
The festival first ran in 2018 when fourteen communities from across Scotland took part with events ranging from guided walks across community-owned land to ceilidhs and study visits. Since then, with the exception of 2020 (when the celebration was of necessity paused), Community Land Week has become an annual event that allows communities to tell their stories, spotlight their achievement, and eat cake.
This year, Community Land Week is taking place as part of A Hundred Years of Community Ownership, a longer celebration which marks 100 years since the first transfer of land into community hands was completed. Accordingly, the Week has been expanded to a full fortnight.
Communities that are interested in running an event should read the Guidance and submit an online Expression of Interest form by Friday 28th July.

We will be running two briefing sessions, where you can hear about past events, learn how to get involved, and ask questions. Click on the date below to register for a session (opens in new tab):
Community Land Week is coordinated by Community Land Scotland and the Scottish Government Community Land Team.
