What they said:

We were supported by Community Land Scotland to purchase our community building. We want to keep that connection going and be part of the community ownership community. This year we decided to show a film about Common Unity, a community organisation based in New Zealand. The 40 minute documentary showcased their organisation which did similar work to Greener Kirkcaldy.

The film showing led to lots of inspiring discussion afterwards about what we could learn from them and what people would like to see us do in the community and in our building. People found the film inspiring and enjoyed the sense of community communicated throughout the film.

The festival encourages us to put on more events that celebrate community that can involve our residential neighbours and the wider community.

Outcomes and Community Feedback:

We are yet to send out our survey but everyone was inspired and motivated and gave us great ideas about what we can do in our community and how we can communicate it.

Challenges:

Timescale – We started organising and promoting our event much later than we would have liked.
