What they said:
BRG is moving towards the acquisition of Birdston Woods (G66 1RW). We were keen to let our community see the site and the Festival was the perfect opportunity to do this. We ran a family Treasure Hunt to showcase the woodland. The weather was awful so the number of teams taking part was lower than we had hoped for. However, the adults and kids that did take place enjoyed the event, experienced Birdston Woods (often for the first time) and learned more about the area in which they live. Feedback from the participants was excellent.
We were delighted that our project in a Glasgow suburb could qualify for the Community Land Festival. Participation in the Festival has added credibility and greater recognition for our project. Thank you.
Outcomes and Community Feedback
Many in the community now appreciate the beauty and potential of Birdston Woods. They are excited at the prospect of community ownership.
Challenges
The weather was awful in the hours prior to a during the first hour of the event. Prior to that the organisation was smooth with our team working happily and effectively together.
