- Community Ownership Roadshow
On 25 & 26 September 2024, we hosted a series of information sessions across Ayrshire to share inspiring stories of community ownership. In partnership with the Scottish Land Fund, we hosted events in West Kilbride, Muirkirk and Prestwick.
The page holds a variety of resources for attendees of those events, including the slide presentations from Community Land Scotland and the Scottish Land Fund.
In addition to presentations from the events, we are using this page to compile a list of resources that were requested during the Q&A sessions each night.
Overview of community buyout: Guide-8steps-to-buyout.pdf (communitylandscotland.org.uk)
Compliant governance documents for community organisations: The Community Land Team has templates for SCIO’s and Companies Limited by Guarantee that you can download here under “How to Form a Community Body”. If you were interested in Community Benefit Societies, and the best information for that is available from Community Shares Scotland.
Register of Community Interests in Land – Community Bodies (RCIL-CB): This provides links to the Community Right to Buy applications, and includes registered, pending, activated and deleted entries.
Learning from other communities:
Meet the Pioneers videos: this webinar series features community landowners talking about their projects and journeys. The webinars are thematic, and cover a wide range of topics, from owning historic assets to managing greenspace to working with young people.
Community Land Scotland case studies: we have created a number of case studies of community owners that are linked in our Resources section of this site.
Visiting other communities: The Scottish Communities Alliances has funding available through the Community Learning exchange that provides small pots of money to build levels of mutual support across the Community Sector through peer to peer learning.
