The GalGael Trust
19 October 2023 * 6:00 pm - 9:00 pm
Yer tea, a gab an’ a ceilidh.
The Highland Land League’s most famous slogan “Is treasa tuath na tighearna” has had a wee renaissance this year. With parcels of Scotland being Bought and Sold (by corporate Gold) for carbon offsets, the time is now to get together and understand how we harness a power mightier than the Lord.
Building on conversations at last year’s CLW event, we want to hear more from folk on land rights, welcome, indigeneity, colonialism and Scottish Independence. We have a few speakers lined up, but we’d love more contributions. If you have something to offer by way of a song, a poem or a provocation, get in touch with David at GalGael.
There’ll be food, music and a fire. We might be indoors or outdoors; either way it’ll be cold. Wear yer second best plaid…
This event is part of Community Land Week, the festival of community ownership in Scotland. In 2023, nearly 50 communities from across Scotland will celebrate, with events ranging from guided walks across community-owned land and mushroom cultivation workshops, to pumpkin festivals and ceilidhs.
