Community Land Scotland & Scottish Crofting Federation: Crofting Community Right to Buy Consultation Event

Scottish Government is undertaking a review of Community Right to Buy legislation. Since this Right was established, no communities have successfully employed it (although there have been successful negotiated sales). Common challenges include overly stringent mapping requirements, the bureaucracy of the process and the onus on communities to prove the success of their project.

We are hosting this event alongside the Scottish Crofting Federation and will be focusing on Crofting Community Right to Buy legislation, bringing together our Members and other crofting communities we’ve worked with to share insights and experiences. These contributions will help shape our organisational responses to the consultation, ensuring that crofting community voices are fully represented. We also hope the session will be useful for any community groups preparing to submit their own responses.

Join us as we work to identify and overcome the barriers to the Crofting Community Right to Buy, and advocate for a more accessible, streamlined process that truly empowers communities to take ownership of sustainable assets.
