Join the Cabrach Trust for their Festival Fortnight!
Over two weeks, we invite you to participate in a variety of engaging community events that celebrate local craft, culture, and heritage.
Saturday 19th & Sunday 20th: Community Makers Market – 10am to 4pm
The Cabrach Makers Markets brings together local artists and makers with their arts and crafts in the Acorn Centre.
Tea and Scone Morning – 10.30am to noon
Join us in the Acorn Community Centre for a cuppa and chat, catch up with neighbours and friends and find out what the Cabrach Trust have been working on and future projects.
Saturday 26th:Community Cabrach Distillery Day – 2pm to 3.30pm
The community owned social enterprise will celebrate a moment which marks a huge milestone for The Cabrach Trust & community – Join Euan, The Distillery Manager for a tour of the Distillery and a wee dram of The Feering.
Saturday 26th: Make a wooden whisky tumbler from green wood with local woodworker Ged Connell – 10am – 4pm
We all know whisky is matured in wood, so why not drink it from wood too, by making your very own unique hand carved wooden whisky tumbler! This course is suitable for all abilities. You will be shown how to select, cleave and carve out freshly felled logs, using a selection of hand tools and devices, carving knives, shaving horses and hand augers to create your very own whisky tumblers to take home.
Sunday 27th: Make a wooden stool from green wood with local woodworker Ged Connell – 10am to 4pm
No previous skills required for this fun and creative workshop, in making a rustic stool from a log to take back with you and proudly display in your home. You will be shown how to cleave, trim and shave the stool legs on the shave horse. Form tenons on the stool legs with a tenon cutter and draw knife. Then shape the slab for the seat of the stool, drill out the leg holes with a hand auger and finally assemble the stool.
Saturday 2nd: Community Arts Day – Marbling and making memory books with Morag Tweedie – 10am to 4pm
During this full day workshop you will explore various marbling techniques on a range of papers and then use them to make simple hand sewn booklets. There will also be a lovely selection of printed papers to use along with you personal marbled papers.
All materials will be provided. If you have papers that you would like to use then please bring those along with you, these could be watercolour or Japanese watercolour papers, rice paper, thin card, brown paper or light coloured paper. You might have some special wrapping or printed papers that you might like to bring along to use.
Sunday 3rd: Conservation Volunteers Day – With EDF Rangers – With community soup and sweet afternoon – 9:30am – 4pm
Come along and help us with the various maintenance tasks on the Community Discovery Trail and enjoy a lunch with the EDF Ranger Service and the Cabrach Trust team.
