Building partnerships to deliver community benefits from natural capital.
The Natural Capital Community Partnerships launched at the beginning of 2025 to build partnerships between Scotland’s community, private and public sectors.
Led by Community Land Scotland in partnership with the Scottish Land Commission, the project is helping deliver Scottish Government expectations that communities are involved in decisions and benefit from Scotland’s land.
As investment in land for natural capital developments increases, it is essential to ensure that communities are meaningfully involved, receive a fair share of the benefits, and are not being marginalised.
The Natural Capital Community Partnerships provides tailored support to a small number of projects, establishing fair and practical examples of projects where landowners, communities, developers, and nature finance developers work together to share in the benefits of natural capital investment.
The team of advisers led by the project manager work across Scotland’s mainland and islands, working hands-on with landowners, investors and communities, building partnerships and creating inclusive project models.
Our advisers provide guidance tailored to the scale and types of natural capital projects. We can signpost relevant resources and guidance, connect you with those working in the sector, and deliver tailored workshops to help identify the community benefits that could be achieved through your natural capital project.
Our Support Package and Opportunities for Participants are included below. These documents highlight the ways we can assist your project and the advantages of collaborating with us to demonstrate your community benefits.
