The Troon Development Trust is a community-led organization based in Troon, Scotland, focused on enhancing the town and supporting local initiatives.

Community Projects

  • One of their major ongoing efforts is the takeover and redevelopment of the former Troon Old Parish Church. The Church of Scotland deemed the building surplus to requirements, and the Trust has submitted proposals to take ownership and repurpose it as a community asset.
    .
  • The building, which includes two historically significant structures (one from the 1830s and another designed by Victorian architect Hippolyte Blanc in 1893), is seen as a valuable heritage site. The Trust aims to preserve and revitalize it for future generations.

Heritage and Tourism

  • The Trust has also been working on heritage boards and a history trail to celebrate Troon’s rich past and enhance local tourism

Community Engagement

  • Formed before the COVID-19 pandemic, the Trust was established to identify community needs and collaborate on solutions. It encourages local participation and is actively seeking volunteers and supporters
