The South – Girvan

The South is a community-led project in Girvan that aims to buy and redevelop the town’s former South Parish Church into a large multi-purpose community venue. The plan is to create a space for theatre, live music, film screenings, weddings, public meetings, arts events, and local groups, alongside a proposed 30-bed bunkhouse to support tourism and generate income.

The group says Girvan has lacked a true large-scale civic venue since the old McMaster Hall burned down in 1939 and since the Beach Pavilion closed years later.
