Port Bannatyne Development Trust

The Port Bannatyne Development Trust formed in December 2020 when the closure of local gathering spots left a significant gap in the village’s social fabric, motivating over 20 residents to come together.  Formally organised as a Steering Group on January 16, 2021, the Trust has since made impressive strides in preserving and enhancing community spaces.

The Trust’s accomplishments include the purchase of The Anchor Tavern, a cornerstone of village social life that now remains under local ownership. Additionally, they’ve taken on the building adjacent to the Tavern, transforming it into a community hub, a versatile space for gatherings, events, and social services. Moreover, their acquisition of another village property, now leased to a local baker, has further contributed to the local economy, supporting a small business while generating rental income for the Trust.

These initiatives collectively foster both economic and social resilience within Port Bannatyne, providing essential spaces for community interaction, supporting local business, and creating a sense of shared ownership and pride.
