Munlochy Community Development Trust

Munlochy Community Development Trust (MCDT) was set up by local people to improve the village of Munlochy and the surrounding area on the Black Isle, just north of Inverness. It officially became a **Scottish Charitable Incorporated Organisation (SCIO) in April 2026.

Like many community development trusts in Scotland, its purpose is to help local people shape the future of their community by:

* taking on community-owned assets or land
* applying for grants and funding
* supporting local projects
* improving facilities and opportunities for residents
* encouraging sustainable economic, social and environmental development.

One of the ideas associated with the group has been exploring community ownership and development of land at Littleburn Road in Munlochy through Scotland’s Community Asset Transfer process. The vision has included creating a community hub with wellbeing, education and environmental uses rather than leaving the site for other forms of development.
