In 2019 Kinning Park Complex bought the building that we had called home since it was saved by the local community following an occupation that saved it from closure in 1996. In need of major renovation we wanted to secure ownership of the building in order to use that as a launch pad to build a bigger, brighter future for our organisation. We also purchased a smaller building and land adjacent to the main building so that we could continue to develop and expand into the future.
Our current plans for the organisation are to renovate the building as part of a multi-site capital works programme that will begin in August 2020. This will see the renovation of the KPC Main Building as well as development of new space and the proposed regeneration of a derelict football pitch in our local area.
In between times we have launched a neighbourhood solidarity project (www.kinningparkcomplex.org/a-ok) to ensure that our community is connected, empowered and has access to the goods and services they need during the COVID-19 pandemic.
