The Garnethill Multicultural Centre is a community centre in the middle of Glasgow. It’s a friendly place that brings people of all ages and backgrounds together.
They Run alot of activities every week — like exercise, arts and crafts, gardening, walking groups, dance, and social events, as well as, provides free or low-cost meals (for seniors, asylum seekers, and refugees). They have a Community Food Hub where people can get affordable groceries, with halal and culturally relevant food included.
They offer English classes, advice sessions, and support groups for refugees, asylum seekers, and local residents and work with groups like Central & West Integration Network and Migrant Voice to support “New Scots.”
The centre gives people a place to:
Meet others and feel less isolated
Get help with food, housing, or language
Take part in cultural and fun activities
Feel welcome no matter their background
The Building
The centre is in an old Church of Scotland building that’s been a community space since 1988.
In 2019, the community officially took ownership of it, they’re now working on refurbishments to make it more accessible, modern, and energy efficient.
In short: It’s a welcoming community hub in Glasgow where people can eat together, learn, get support, and celebrate different cultures.
