Avich & Kilchrenan Community Heritables (AKCH)
- Avich & Kilchrenan Community Heritables (AKCH)
Set up in 2023, Avich & Kilchrenan Community Heritables (AKCH) aim is to help improve life in the villages of Dalavich, Inverinan, and Kilchrenan in Argyll.
What They Do:
They work to protect and make use of the area’s history, buildings, and natural environment in ways that benefit the community. Their goals include:
• Looking after nature and the environment
• Supporting local learning
• Celebrating local culture and history
• Creating places for people to come together, relax, and enjoy activities
Main Projects:
1. Restoring Local Churches: They want to take care of two old churches in Kilchrenan and Dalavich and turn them into spaces that the whole community can use—for services, weddings, concerts, or local events.
2. Creating a Community Hub: They’re trying to take over an old school building in Kilchrenan and turn it into a space where people can meet, hold classes, or run community projects.
