Learning from Local Place Plans
19 May * 10:00 am - 22 May * 4:00 pmFree
Communities have a new right to produce their own land use plans called “Local Place Plans”. Kinning Park Complex and Wester Hailes Community Trust completed some of the first Local Place Plans in 2022. While there are some guides on preparing a local place plan, the community perspective has been absent. Kinning Park Complex and Wester Hailes Community Trust want to address that by sharing their experiences.
Local Place Plans: Community Realities and Reflections
Friday 19 May * 10:00 – 13:00
Wester Hailes Community Trust will host us at Whale Arts in Edinburgh for a practical workshop for community groups preparing a Local Place Plan. We will discuss:
- Easy wins and things to consider at the start
- Outcomes and next steps
- Links to community empowerment
- What does success mean on the community’s own terms?
Attendees are welcome to stay on for the community meal and a walking tour of Wester Hailes.
Local Place Plans: Communities and Policy Making
Monday 22 May * 13:00 – 16:00
Join us at Kinning Park Complex in Glasgow to discuss community experiences of Local Place Plans with policy makers. We will:
- Share community experiences in creating their Local Place Plans
- Discuss learning and success factors
- Explore links to development plans, community plans and to community empowerment
- Identify future collaboration opportunities
Facilitation will be provided by SURF and Community Land Scotland.
A Top Tips Guide for Local Place Plans, by Communities for Communities, will be published following the event.
