Regional Gathering: Langholm

A regional gathering for community owners of land and buildings
Wednesday 14 – Thursday 15 January 2026
The Buccleuch Centre, Langholm, with study visit to the Langholm Initiative
Join fellow community landowners, volunteers, and organisers for a two-day residential gathering combining hands-on learning, shared meals, and focused workshops. This fully funded event offers space to reflect on what sustains our work, how we stay meaningfully connected to our communities, and how we build strong foundations for the next generation of land stewards.
We’ll begin with a study visit to the Langholm Initiative, followed by an evening of good food and “big ideas” conversations, and then spend the next morning in a collaborative gathering with case studies, table discussions, and collective action planning.
Provisional programme:
Wednesday
13:00 – 16:30 Study visit: The Langholm Initiative / Tarras Valley Nature Reserve
17:00 – 18:00 Check-in at accommodation / free time
18:00 – 20:00 Dinner with a Side of Big Ideas — two rounds of guided table discussions exploring what drives our work, how we connect with communities, and how to plan for the future
Thursday
09:30 – 13:30 Deepening our Engagement — case studies, discussions on community engagement and succession planning, group sharing, and action planning (includes lunch)
