SUMMARY:Training for Community Landowners in Glasgow
DESCRIPTION:Intensive training available this Autumn  \nCommunity landowners implement the needs\, aspirations and energy of their communities\,  while also running financially successful organisations.  This community-led approach is one of the main strengths of the community land model but it can also create unique challenges. \nWe are offering a set of intensive in-person trainings this Autumn which will cover key topics for community landowner staff and board members\, and access to one to one coaching. Join us to build your knowledge\, and your network\,  as you plan for the future. \n  \nWhat’s on offer?  \nSTILL AVAILABLE TO BOOK: \n November  21 (9.30-15:30)  \n Finance for non-financial staff\nA refresher course on finance for non-financial staff. We will discuss management accounts\, VAT\, and other key topics. \nAdditional 1 to 1 support available from James\, by the hour\, for attendees. \n  \nSESSIONS ALREADY COMPLETED OR ENROLLED \n28 September (9.30-15:30) – Building Stronger Boards\nWe looked at board processes (decision making\, writing agenda\, reporting\, meeting\, chairing\, managing staff) as well as board/staff dynamics (succession planning\, managing your CEO\, recruitment and induction\, effective decision making.). \n29 September (9.30-15:30) – Strategic Planning Day 1\nHow to approach long-term strategic planning from a community-led perspective.  The follow up session will develop these plans. \n20 November  (9.30-15:30) – Strategic Planning Day 2\nDeveloping and implementing your long-term strategic planning.  This is only available to those who attended the first session in September. \n  \nDetails \nThe training is structured to provide intensive support over two days in September and  two days in November. The sessions on Stronger Boards and Finance are ‘stand alone’ and may have different attendees.  The same attendees have signed up for both days of Strategic Planning for continuity. \nJames Hilder will be providing the training. He is a very experienced social enterprise consultant\, trainer and Trustee\, involved in numerous community buyouts and social enterprises. \nTraining sessions are open to communities who either own or are about to acquire land and/or assets. Both Board members and employees are encouraged to attend\, but numbers will initially be restricted to two people per organisation\, per seminar.  If there is substantial interest\, priority will be given to community groups in the Clyde Valley. \nThe training will take place in the Billiard Hall at the Pearce Institute in Govan. \nTravel and caring cost bursaries are available. \n  \nRegistration  \nRegister using the RSVP below. \nOnce we have received your registration we will check that your organisation meets the criteria  and will be in touch with you to confirm your place. Spaces are available on a first come first serve basis. \nContact Heather at heather.yearwood@communitylandscotland.org.uk with any queries. \n  \nTraining for Community Landowners\nThis event is part of Community Land Scotland’s on-going series of training sessions for community owners\, and is focused in Glasgow in 2023 as part of our project Community Ownership Hub: Glasgow and Clyde Valley.
