SUMMARY:Bridgend Farmhouse
DESCRIPTION:Bridgend Farmhouse dates back to the very early 19th century and was a working farm up until the 1970’s\, eventually falling derelict with the last farmers leaving in 2000. \nThe exhibition shares the history of how the building and the lands were transformed over a period of years through the commitment and determination of local volunteers. Our exhibition is a celebration of the power of communal action and the profound impact it has on shaping our shared spaces. \nDuring these two weeks we will also have the following open sessions running in case you would like to join in: \n\nVolunteer Activity Days on Wednesday and Sunday 11-3pm\nCommunity Gardening Days Tuesdays and Fridays 10-3pm\nCommunity Meals every Wednesday at 5-6pm\nWoodcraft Wednesdays from 5.30-8.30pm\nCafe will be open Wednesday to Sunday 11am to 4pm\n\nExhibition open times: \n11am – 4pm\, 13th – 29th October 2023 (excluding Mon and Tues) in our upstairs Gallery Room APART FROM Fridays 9-2; Monday 23rd 9-1\, Thursday 26th 11:30-4:30. Other times may be manageable by appointment. \nThe Gallery Room is fully accessible by lift. \nPlease check our Facebook page before you visit just in case the Gallery Room has been booked for an event.  \nOur café is open Wed – Sun\, 11am – 4pm. \nCar parking limited – please come by foot or by bike if possible. We are a few minutes’ walk from Cameron Toll Shopping Centre. \n  \n \nThis event is part of Community Land Week\, the festival of community ownership in Scotland. In 2023\, nearly 50 communities from across Scotland will celebrate\, with events ranging from guided walks across community-owned land and mushroom cultivation workshops\, to pumpkin festivals and ceilidhs. \nLearn more.

SUMMARY:Bridgend Eco-Bothy and Play Area Launch
DESCRIPTION:Bridgend Farmhouse (community owned and run since 2015) is delighted to launch and open our very own eco-bothy\, play area and accessible compost toilet. \nThese have all been designed and built by volunteers over the last 7 years\, all using traditional and sustainable methods and materials\, with support from expert green builders and architects\, and help from SEDA (Scottish Ecological Design Association). Volunteers and a local stone-mason have also restored the surrounding perimeter walls using traditional lime-pointing techniques. \nThis event is a celebration of collective achievement\, desire and perseverance\, and of new exciting spaces to be used. There will be a ceilidh band\, music performances\, storytelling\, face-painting\, puppetry\, tours\, food and more.
