Save Kingsmeadows

The Lodge House Kingsmeadows Peebles EH45 9HR

Michael Marshall

Save Kingsmeadows is a community initiative dedicated to preserving the woodland surrounding Kingsmeadows House in Peebles. The campaign emerged in response to development proposals that threatened this ecologically significant area.

The woodland at Kingsmeadows serves as a vital wildlife corridor, connecting various green spaces and ancient woodlands in the region. It is home to numerous species of wildflowers, mammals, and birds, and contributes to the area’s biodiversity.

The Save Kingsmeadows community group emphasises the importance of protecting this natural habitat from development, advocating for its preservation for future generations; access, mental wealth, recreation and education.  The group encourages community involvement and has been active in organising events and raising awareness about the ecological value of the woodland.

In December 2024, the Scottish Borders Council (SBC) planning committee refused an application (24/00030/FUL) that would have impacted the woodland, citing conflicts with environmental policies and the National Planning Framework 4 (NPF4).
