Isle of Canna Community Development Trust

The Isle of Canna Community Development Trust’s vision is for sustainable demographic growth supported by good employment opportunities, good services and facilities and affordable housing.

Further amenity growth is a major aim of the Canna community and facilities such as a community hall and arts centre are a must for the future. The community feel that ownership of its own assets are a fundamental requirement of community empowerment and will continue to pursue community asset ownership wherever or whenever it becomes a possibility. The community support the current Scottish Government proposals for greater community empowerment and with membership of the Development Trusts Association Scotland and Community Land Scotland see this as a steady progression for Canna where a partnership can exist between the Community and the NTS thus ensuring growth within Conservation objectives and guidelines, making Canna an exceptional place not just to visit but to live in.
