Join Community Land Scotland and four guests speakers, Hugh Ross – Staffin Community Trust, Julia Muir Watt – All Roads Lead to Whithorn, Helen MacDonald – Mull and Iona Community Trust, to hear about how each of these organisations developed their housing plans, how they acquired funding for the build, the hurdles they faced, their experience of working with contractors, the process of getting tenants for the houses and all the benefits that community owned housing has brought to their communities. We will also be hearing from Linsay Chalmers of Community Land Scotland about learning on urban community housing from England. The event will be chaired by Mike Staples, Chief Executive of South of Scotland Community Housing.
Each guest speaker will deliver a short presentation followed by a panel discussion that will cover current issues within community housing, participants will then have the opportunity to ask questions to the speakers.
This is the third in a series of ‘Meet the Pioneers’ webinar events. The webinars will range from thematic discussions e.g. forestry, greenspace, renewable energy, affordable housing, heritage, climate change etc. to geographic clusters of community landowners with shared experiences and single-issue areas.
