Urras Oighreachd Ghabhsainn
Urras Oighreachd Ghabhsainn will be hosting an open afternoon on Thursday 16th August. Join us at 14.00 for a brief talk of the history of the estate right up to the time of the buyout. We will be showing a mini movie of the key milestones and some highlights since the buyout in 2007. You can then grab a coffee and and enjoy the Beatha air a’ mhonadh (life on the moor) photography exhibition which is currently on display at the business centre.
At 15.15 there will be an opportunity to take a guided walk to explore key sites of interest relating to the buyout celebration and the history of Galson.
If anyone wishes there will also be an opportunity at 16.30 to visit the wind energy project in Ballantrushal. This project has been the largest project undertaken by the Trust since the buyout and the income has allowed a Community Investment Programme to be rolled out. Find out more about the project and the various ways it is supporting the community to grow and develop.
Please meet at the UOG Business Centre, Tom na Ba, South Galson, Isle of Lewis, HS2 0SH.
