Outer Hebrides LEADER and EMFF Programme seeks new members

A message from the Outer Hebrides LEADER and European Maritime and Fisheries Fund (EMFF) Local Action Groups (LAGs) –

Would you consider being involved in partnerships which will support the delivery of community and economic development throughout the Outer Hebrides?  Do you have skills that can assist businesses and community groups to realise their goals and make their futures more sustainable?  If so we would like to hear from you!  We are recruiting members for the next Outer Hebrides LEADER and European Maritime and Fisheries Fund (EMFF) Local Action Groups (LAGs) and are inviting you to put your name, business or group forward for consideration as a new LAG member for the 2014-2020 Programme.

The Outer Hebrides have successfully been approved funding to operate both a 2014-2020 LEADER and EMFF Programme, however the exact amount is still to be finalised.  The LAGS manage the operational and strategic delivery of both programmes and this includes awarding financial support, developing projects and overseeing the programmes administration and new members are now being sought for the next funding period.

Membership of the LAGs comprise of partners from the public, private and voluntary sectors ensuring of cross-sectoral representation on the partnership.  Two groups will be formed in the Outer Hebrides the LEADER LAG (LAG) and the Fisheries LAG (FLAG).  You can apply to sit on either group or both.  These will both be properly constituted groups.  The role of a LAG and FLAG member is both rewarding and demanding and offer the opportunity of influencing rural development in the Outer Hebrides.

The programmes cover the whole of the Outer Hebrides and we are seeking to recruit new members with experience of rural economic, community and marine development and this includes representation from the renewables, tourism, business, crofting and fishing sectors.   A wide range of experience and skills are required, and we hope they will be provided by active community representatives, businesses, social enterprises, land managers, farmers, crofters, fishermen, producers and local agencies to name but a few.
