The second Argyll Enterprise Week (AEW) brings business support events to towns across Argyll from 6 – 10 November and Community Land Scotland are hosting the session – Community-led Development. The series of free events are organised jointly by Argyll and Bute Council’s Business Gateway Team and Highlands and Island Enterprise (HIE) in collaboration with the local business community.
Community-led Development is aimed at Community Groups looking to acquire or develop assets to improve their economic sustainability.
There are already 66 community owned assets in Argyll and Bute who have benefited from over £6M of public sector investment. How other communities can become more resilient by creating income streams and making the most of locally-owned assets is the theme of this day.
The day aims to inspire, inform and connect individuals and groups to help them to make real and sustainable improvements within their communities. Sharing insights, learning and experiences will be at the heart of the day.
Ian Hepburn, Chair of Community Land Scotland, which represents Scotland’s new generation of community land owners, will lead sessions aimed at communities interested in buying assets and developing projects. Argyll and Bute Council’s Asset Transfer Team will also be on hand to highlight the role they play and support they can provide to communities.
The day will include case studies, networking opportunities and workshops with a focus on how communities can utilize housing and renewable energy projects to effect lasting positive change. There will also be sessions on the latest thinking and plans around the Right to Buy legislation.
