Before retiring, Alan Short taught History and also Outdoor Education for many years in the Grampian area. He has spent a lot of time canoeing and walking through the Scottish landscape –always with an eye open to the evidence of its changing history.
‘Communities have always been at the heart of Scotland’s landscape but land laws have historically given power and control over land to individuals. I support Community Land Scotland’s aim to challenge the dominance of individual control of land and place communities at the heart of land ownership.’
Alan has recently made an interesting video on land ownership in Scotland which looks at some of the key events in the evolution of landownership in Scotland from the earliest times, to today’s land reform agenda. You can watch here.
